Movie Time: Southland Tales

I decided to add a new category of posts to this blog where I would write a couple of words about movies I have seen recently. Not your average main-stream ones that you take your girl to and buy her popcorn and make out in the theater, but more like off-beat, strange movies that you don't get to see every day.


Today's movie: Southland Tales
Written and directed by Richard Kelly, the maker of Donnie Darko, Southland Tales is set in a dystopian ante-apocalyptic future in July 2008 in Los Angeles. It follows the story of a very confused action star named Boxer Santoros (Duane "The Rock" Johnson) who was struck with amnesia, and is researching a character for a movie based on his more or less awful screenplay, Jericho Kane, a police man in search for the truth.

Besides it's great cast and a great job from the writer/director, this movie's got everything it needs to entertain. There' action, comedy, there's adventure, plot twists, music, there's science fiction, there's drama, violence, and there's Justin Timberlake.
