Japan's NHK TV crew spent 400 hours, over the course of 100 missions, under water in the Pacific Ocean, where they finally caught up with this Kraken-like deep-sea creature at a depth of 630 meters (2,066 feet), about 1,000 km south of Tokyo.
The footage will air special documentary on the Discovery Channel on January 27.
